We affirm the existence of one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons. This reality is not a contradiction but a divine mystery that reflects the richness of God's nature.
Fully God, Yet Distinct
In our confession of the Trinity, we declare that each person of the Godhead - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - is fully God. There is no hierarchy or diminishing of the divine essence. Each person possesses the fullness of deity, coequal and coeternal.
Distinct Roles and Functions
While the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit share the same divine essence, they fulfill distinct roles and functions in the divine economy. The Father is the eternal source, the Son is the incarnate Word and Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit is the Comforter and Empowerer. This beautiful interplay of roles demonstrates unity in diversity.
The Father's Initiating Love
The Father, in His initiating love, sent the Son into the world for the purpose of redemption. This act of sending reveals the self-giving nature of God, as the Son willingly took on human form to accomplish the work of salvation.
The Son's Obedient Redemption
The Son, obedient to the Father's will, willingly laid down His life on the cross for the sins of humanity. In doing so, Jesus demonstrated perfect unity with the Father, expressing the depths of divine love and grace.
The Holy Spirit's Empowering Presence
The Holy Spirit, sent by both the Father and the Son, dwells within believers, empowering them for life, service, and witness. The Spirit's work is to illuminate the truth, convict hearts, and conform believers to the image of Christ.
Living in Unity and Diversity
As a community of faith, we are called to reflect the unity in diversity found in the Triune God. Just as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work harmoniously towards the same divine purpose, we, too, are invited to embrace diversity while standing united in our common mission of love, service, and proclaiming the gospel.
